Paradise lake _Tawang Arunachal Pradesh India
This April 5 of us went to North east India for painting trip.
Due to heavy snow fall we were stuck near This point (which is appx 14000 ft high (world's third highest) .
We had to abndon our vehicle and return back to Dirang Valley in truck. Just imagine- 61 KM in truck on dificult mountain road filled with snow. Next day morning it was clear day and we were able to make it to Tawang. This painting is done from photograph and brings back those "scary memories"

Season of Wet in Wet
Monsoon is perticularly problem for many watercolorist. Paper remains damp for longtime after washes but then in some paintings it can be used to your advantage.
This full emperial size wet in wet is done from multiple photos as reference. Guess i succeded in creating mood by using wet in wet washes without adding much details :). As paper remained wet for long, did it in breaks and took me unusulaly loner time almost 4 hours

My Website
Happy to announce launch of my website. http://www.ajaypatilpaintings.com/ I keep posting here on my blog, on FB and various sites , so thought it would be good to have my own site where I can put together few pages together and call it my internet home :). I am not a designer so while building this site kept layout and navigation simple instead of some jazzy stuff. Do visit, give me feedback and visit frequently for updates . Appreciate if there are any suggestions or broken links reported

woods are lovely
Its very hot and humid and its better to do paintings in comfort of home this season :)
Full size painting done from Photo reference. When I say reference , it's not just copy of photo but try and get that painterely feel. Mnay a times its done from multiple photos . This one is from rerence photos of live root bridge near Cherapunji.Once basic drawing is done I hardly look at original photo and paint as if its done in plein air.

Wada @ Menvali
Had not done any structure for many days so tried this from photograph.
This is one famous wada at menavali which was residance of nana Fadnvis , diplomat from Peshwa days.
This painting was my attempt to paint some basic washes and going back to basic "KISS - keep it simple stupid" mantra. hope I have kept it simple :)

aboli flowers
I do not know what these flowers are called in English for that matter in any other language . The are "aboli" common flowers in Konkan, Mharashtra.
(Scientific Name : Crossandra infundibuliformis. Family : Acanthaceae)
Y'day was bit hot and avoided going out anywhere and ended painting this small floral in backyard at my native place.

tarpa player
Tarpa dance which is played to the tune of a wind instrument "Tarpa". This is the dance performed by Warli ( adivasi tribe in Thane district, Maharashtra) during harvest season/diwali. I have tried to use warli painting style painting and design approach to composition.
I really need a critique on this and comments on the areas to improve as I am planning to do a series of some figurative painting (which i am not good at :( ) on Maharashtra folk dances
